Getting Started With SurfLog

Unlocking the Power of SurfLog:

In today’s digital landscape, understanding web traffic and browser usage is crucial for businesses and IT professionals alike. SurfLog is an innovative tool designed to provide detailed insights into web traffic, helping you make informed decisions and optimize your network performance. In this blog post, we will explore the features and benefits of SurfLog, and guide you through getting started with this powerful tool.

What is SurfLog? SurfLog is a web traffic analysis tool that allows you to monitor and review browser activity across your network. By enabling clients and agents, you can collect valuable data on which browsers are used the most, peak web traffic times, and more. This information is essential for optimizing network performance and ensuring a smooth user experience.

Getting Started with SurfLog

  1. Enabling Clients and Agents To start using SurfLog, you need to enable your clients and agents for both RMM Max Management and the SurfLog tool. Once enabled, automated scans will begin, and you will start receiving data from your agents.

  2. Running the Browser Simulator The Browser Simulator is a handy feature that opens a randomly chosen browser and requests a set of random pages. This helps feed your demo with data and provides a comprehensive view of browser activity.

  3. Reviewing Data SurfLog offers two main ways to review the collected data: charts and raw logs.

    • Charts: The charts provide a summarized view of browser usage and web traffic patterns. You can see which browser is used the most, peak web traffic times, and more.

    • Raw Logs: For a more detailed view, you can review the raw logs. At the client level, raw logs may be extensive, so SurfLog limits the display to today’s logs with an option to switch to yesterday’s logs. For more detailed logs, you can visit the agent view.

Troubleshooting Common Issues Sometimes, agents may fail to report data. This could be due to antivirus logs blocking the scans. If you encounter this issue, check the AV logs and ensure that scans are not being blocked.

SurfLog is a powerful tool that provides valuable insights into web traffic and browser usage. By enabling clients and agents, running the Browser Simulator, and reviewing the collected data, you can optimize your network performance and make informed decisions. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced user, SurfLog offers the features you need to effectively monitor and analyze web traffic.
